TORONTO, Dec. 9, 2013 /CNW/ - The HBC Foundation is proud to unveil the 2013 HBC Foundation Winter Lounge at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), this Monday, December 9, 2013. Created for children and families who have to spend time at SickKids during the holiday season, the Winter Lounge helps make the hospital feel a little more like home. Throughout the month of December, the hospital's Atrium is transformed into a special place where patients and families can spend time together and enjoy the holiday surrounded by the cozy comforts of the season. The HBC Foundation Winter Lounge will stay open throughout the entire month, so that every December holiday can be captured, not just Christmas.
Designed by Hudson's Bay Creative Director of Home Arren Williams, the lounge pairs glittering trees and snowflakes with comfortable leather furniture and rustic occasional tables, with the entire lounge set against the backdrop of a wintry woodland scene. "We wanted to bring together the warmth and sparkle of the Holidays and create a space where families can feel that they're relaxing in a home away from home," says Williams.
"We often take for granted being able to celebrate this festive season in the comfort of our homes, but for many patients being treated at SickKids, the holidays will be spent in hospital," says Adrian Horwood, Vice-President, Corporate Partnerships, SickKids Foundation. "The generous support of our friends at The HBC Foundation in creating this cozy winter lounge will help staff at the hospital bring even more cheer to so many children and their families this holiday season."
