Leadership, performance and community service key to selection of Ruth Ann McConkey

LONDON, ON, Nov. 23, 2017 /CNW/ - GLC Asset Management Group President, Ruth Ann McConkey, has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women.
Launched in 2003 by Women's Executive Network (WXN), Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards was created to shine a spotlight on the incredible accomplishments of professional women across Canada in a way that would both recognize talented leaders and inspire others—the next generation, their peers and themselves—to push the boundaries of what's possible even further.

As President of GLC Asset Management Group, Ruth Ann has overall responsibility for the investment management and business operations of GLC, including portfolio strategies for individual, group and institutional marketplaces.
Ruth Ann played an integral role in the creation of the GLC Asset Management Group in 2011 and has served as the head of the organization since its creation. Since that time, she has overseen the organization's growth from $30.6 billion in assets under management in 2011 to $53.3 billion as at September 30, 2017. Additionally, in 2016, Ruth Ann championed GLC's decision to become a signatory to the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI), with the aim to contribute to the development of a more sustainable global financial system.
In the community, Ruth Ann has volunteered for over 10 years on the finance committee of the Sisters of St. Joseph in London, Ontario, sharing her professional experience and expertise to help with the management of their financial affairs.

As a leader in business, Ruth Ann values the strength of teamwork and the sharing of expertise and experience. She has undertaken a number of initiatives to share her knowledge and encourage others to aspire to their career goals. These include participating in a recent panel for the CFA Society Winnipeg to discuss gender-diversity in the investment management industry, as well as a guest speaker to HBA-program students at the Ivey Business School.
Ruth Ann will receive the award at a gala celebration event in Toronto on November 23, 2017.
