CALGARY, May 25, 2018 /CNW/ - Brightsquid Secure Communications Corp. has won the TELUS Outstanding Product Achievement Award to Recognize Mobility Health (M-Health) Innovation Excellence.
The award is presented by the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) to a Canadian organization in recognition of a world-class Digital Health Care product. Selection for the award confirms Brightsquid as a leader in digital health technology and highlights the company's contribution to healthcare innovation.
Brightsquid's confidential digital communication service service, Secure-Mail, helps healthcare teams collaborate more efficiently and effectively, and allows patients to participate actively in their own care. Clinics using Brightsquid improve access to care by streamlining administrative activities, eliminating fax, reducing reliance on phone, and replacing in-office appointments.
"We've increased our capacity to address patient concerns by 18% using Brightsquid," explained Shauna Wilkinson, Executive Director at Crowfoot Village Family Practice. Ms. Wilkinson also noted that patients prefer communicating with Secure-Mail over phone or an office visit in three out of six standard interactions.
Specialist clinics using Brightsquid services have reduced wait times from 24 months to 8 weeks. Others doubled the number of patients seen in a day.
The importance of Brightsquid's technology was highlighted in a recent Gartner study commissioned by Canada Health Infoway that asserts the Canadian health system can save $1Billion/yr (the equivalent of 155,000 hospital visits) by digitally sharing patient information across the healthcare continuum.
"It's an honour to be recognized for our contribution on this level. It's clear that care coordination software like ours will do more to advance patient health over the next 5 years than any single drug or medical device," said Brightsquid CEO, Rohit Joshi.
The Brightsquid user base is growing rapidly in Canada and the USA with over 39,000 practitioners and 56,000 patients on the system. Each month, Brightsquid users securely share over 83,000 patient files.
