VANCOUVER, Oct. 30, 2018 /CNW/ - HealthSpace Data Systems Ltd. (the "Company" or "HealthSpace") (CSE:HS) (Frankfurt:38H) (OTC:HDSLF) is pleased to announce an update on Peterborough Public Health (Peterborough, Ontario) and its work with testing the VIA Marketplace API launched earlier this year. The next phase will include writing all food permit information to the Ethereum blockchain through the VIA protocol. Once completed, this extension will allow citizens to recognize that a food permit or audit posted in paper form inside a food service establishment was actually issued from the Health Department by verifying its lifecycle on the blockchain.
Initial testing with Peterborough Public Health, while successful, was light and confined to the few components VIA's alpha version supported. This meant the integration with Peterborough's dataset was not demonstrable on a public scale. However, as HealthSpace continues to iterate its blockchain solution along with its technical partner, SIMBA Chain, it can now extend the use to provide value, not only to the Health Department, but also the residents of Curve Lake and Hiawatha First Nations and the County and City of Peterborough. Part of the next phase will also include migrating Peterborough from using HealthSpace's legacy system to its latest HSCloud platform. This will enable easier coupling when it comes to blockchain protocol tie-ins.
Environmental Health Program manager, Atul Jain stated that, "A large portion of our responsibility as the Local Public Health Agency is to provide trust for citizens when they walk into an establishment. This next phase provides precisely that by increasing the visibility, accessibility and reliability of the data we collect as it relates to protection and prevention of public health programs offered by Peterborough Public Health."
HealthSpace CEO, Silas Garrison commented "This is an exciting next step in the evolution of our work with blockchain. Not only will this next phase provide immutable proof to citizens that the paperwork they see is indeed factual and issued by the appropriate governing authorities, it also showcases how blockchain technology can become beneficial in everyday life. These are monumental steps we are taking as we find a commercially viable footing for our blockchain solutions."
