Official ground breaking ceremony announced and Campaign for Excellence introduced
MONTREAL, May 2, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Hebrew Academy announced today that it is starting construction of its new state-of-the-art outdoor playground. The ground breaking of this project took place today and coincided with the launch of its supporting fundraising initiative, Campaign for Excellence.
Hebrew Academy's new playground will include a soccer field, basketball court, preschool playground, climbing wall, and common area providing a fun and safe environment for its students. The Academy is striving to have construction of the new facilities completed in time for students to enjoy upon return to school at the end of August.
The school has already raised 40% of the required funds from generous donors who have made a concerted effort to contribute to the project. In addition, over $5,000 has been raised by the students themselves as part of their recent Skip-a-Thon. The Academy seeks to raise the required balance of $300,000 through its Campaign for Excellence by the end of the current school year. Donations will be recognized by the Academy on bricks, benches, or even the entire project itself.
"There is a buzz of excitement at the school," said Shlomo Drazin, President and Chairman of the Board. "Staff and students alike are enthusiastically waiting the completion of this wonderful new playground. It will be enjoyed by children of all grade levels, ranging from kindergarten through to high school, providing them with more opportunities to get much needed fresh air and physical activity."
"We are off to a flying start," said Marla Veres, Co-Chair of the Campaign for Excellence. "Thanks to the generous contributions of our donors we are finally able to put our dreams into reality. This is such a special community venture that we can all be proud of. Together, we can ensure that our children are safe, healthy and happy for years to come."
"This playground is just one example of how donors' dollars add value to the school," said Elly Miller, Co-Chair of the Campaign for Excellence. "As we approach our 50th anniversary, this campaign will contribute to our broader goal of ensuring the financial security and growth of the Hebrew Academy for the next 50 years."
