TORONTO, Oct. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Maple Leaf, in partnership with Dr. Karyn Gordon, are today announce a nationwide search to find one individual or organization to receive a $10,000 Feeding the Country Grant. The Grant will recognize a Canadian who gives back to his or her community, and makes a positive difference by helping and nurturing others – or an organization that fosters that same kind of community spirit.
"Gratitude is attitude," said Dr. Gordon, a leading North American relationship and parenting expert. "It's a positive state of mind that's much different than entitlement. Being grateful lowers stress, boosts positive mood and happiness and plays an important role in living a healthy life. Teaching our kids to find role models who practice gratitude, like community volunteers, can help them to learn how to be grateful in their everyday lives and teach them about the positive benefits that can have towards their personal growth."
"Maple Leaf's Feeding the Country Grant is an extension of our Feeding the Country campaign. Maple Leaf is dedicated to nourishing Canadians with great-tasting, nutritious food and helping them reach their full potential. We want to recognize the great people and organizations in our communities that make their neighbours' lives better," said Michael McCain, President and CEO, Maple Leaf Foods.
Nominations for the Feeding the Country Grant will be accepted through Maple Leaf's Facebook page until October 21st, 2014. Canadians are encouraged to nominate the people or organizations who are most deserving of the $10,000 to help grow their cause. A winner will be announced at the end of October.
