Metrolinx is one of Canada's top employers for young people
TORONTO, Sept. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Metrolinx is proud to be one of the winners of Canada's Top Employers for Young People 2013.
This award recognizes Metrolinx as among the top employers from across Canada that offer the best benefits for younger workers and help recent graduates build long-term careers.
Employers were evaluated in terms of the programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. These included benefits such as tuition assistance and the availability of co-op or work-study programs, as well as mentorship opportunities and training and career management programs. The average age of employees at each employer was also a consideration.
"Metrolinx welcomes the fresh perspectives, creative ideas and passion about transportation that our employees bring to the workplace," said Bruce McCuaig, Metrolinx President & CEO. "I truly believe that our ability to meet the transportation challenges of today and tomorrow will be realized through the diverse expertise of our employees."
Metrolinx has developed strong professional and leadership development programs to attract and train the next generation of professionals such as the Rob MacIsaac Fellowship Program, co-op terms, internships, the Truck and Coach Technicians Apprenticeship program, and the summer student program.
Metrolinx will receive the award at a ceremony in Toronto on September 27, 2013.
Metrolinx is working to provide residents and businesses in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area with a transportation system that is modern, efficient and integrated.
