Metrolinx earns Top Employer for Young People Award for the second consecutive year
TORONTO, April 28, 2014 /CNW/ - Metrolinx has been recognized as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People of 2014 for the second consecutive year.
This award recognizes Metrolinx as among the top employers from across Canada that offer the best benefits for younger workers and help recent graduates build long-term careers.
Employers were evaluated based on criteria such as work atmosphere and physical workplace, the availability of co-op or work-study programs, as well as mentorship opportunities and training programs, tuition assistance, to name a few. The average age of employees at each employer was also a consideration.
"Metrolinx welcomes the fresh perspectives, creative ideas and passion about transportation that our employees bring to the workplace," said Bruce McCuaig, Metrolinx President & CEO. "I truly believe that our ability to meet the transportation challenges of today and tomorrow will be realized through the diverse expertise of our employees."
Metrolinx offers exciting opportunities for the younger workforce to start a long-term career in a healthy workplace that promotes growth and career advancement.
Metrolinx has developed strong professional and leadership development programs to attract and develop the next generation of professionals such as the Rob MacIsaac Fellowship Program, co-op terms, internships, the Truck and Coach Technicians Apprenticeship program, the Georgetown South Project Employment Initiative in partnership with the Hammer Heads Apprenticeship program, and the summer student program.
Metrolinx will receive the award at a ceremony in Toronto in September.
