Hey Mo Bro, having trouble with your stubble?
Schick Hydro™ provides tips to trim and shave your way through Movember
TORONTO, Nov. 10 /CNW/ - Did you think it was going to be as easy as ready, set, grow? Did you think your moustache would magically appear if you watered your upper lip in the shower? Think again. Thousands of men across Canada have registered at www.movember.com to grow a Mo this Movember to raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC), but many of them are realizing great Mo's aren't built in a day. It takes weeks of uncomfortable and often itchy growth to grow a great Mo, but the key is to "Schick" with it. There are ways to maximize your look while dealing with the irritation and awkward appearance of growing your Mo this Movember.
"For some of us, our growth is in slow-mo. It can take up to two weeks for a good moustache to grow, which means 14 days of itch, irritation and glorified peach fuzz," says Josh Gardner, Schick Brand Manager, Energizer Canada. "With the right tools, like a Schick Hydro razor, and some extra care, these Mo Bros can minimize the damage, while they grow to their true potential, all in the name of men's health."
Schick tips
During Movember, you've committed to growing a moustache for 30 days. You may have some discomfort or irritation if it's your first time, and there may be periods of growth where you don't look your best. As a proud partner, Schick Hydro™ is offering the following tips to decrease the trouble while encouraging your stubble this Movember:
- Don't be irritating. Start Movember with a good, clean shave. Rinse your skin with warm water to open pores and apply a layer of your desired shave prep to lock in the heat and moisture
- No in and out privileges. Men with especially coarse or curly hair may experience the dreaded ingrown hair. Try gently exfoliating the area to remove dead skin and dab acne medication on the area to soften the skin. Applying a warm, moist cloth for a few minutes should bring the hair to the surface (but if not, try grasping the hair with a sterilized needle or tweezers)
- Match your Mo to your M.O. Once you've passed the awkward stage, choose a moustache that suits your style. Visit www.SchickMoPic.ca to upload a picture of yourself and personalize the Mo to match your growing capabilities
- Take a Schick Day. Not all Mo's are created equal or grow at the same speeds. You may want to schedule Schick days (Mo related sick days) to avoid an unwanted preview and let it fill out a bit. Other alternatives include leveraging conference calls and online meetings
- Don't rush a good thing. A luxurious Mo requires a little extra time. Take a few minutes every morning to love and nurture your moustache:
- Lather, rinse, repeat. Once you have good growth, moisturize and massage your Mo with a little conditioner while in the shower to keep the skin beneath your moustache soft and to reduce irritation
- Bed head. Now that you've successfully grown a Mo the likes of Magnum, ensure you trim and groom. Once out of the shower, towel-dry your moustache and comb it with a large tooth comb. Trim any long hairs ensuring hair does not grow over your top lip. Don't forget to wash stray hairs and clippings from your face
- Work it, wax it. Once you've reached your desired growth, use a little hair or moustache wax to keep unruly curlies in place. Be careful not to over manicure your moustache unless you are after the Salvador Dali look
- This isn't a lunchbox. Nothing says amateur moustache man like carrying lunch crumbs on your newfound lip growth. Visit a bathroom after each meal to clear out any leftover food
- The Mo must go. By the end of November, you may come to love your Mo. However, it is the end of Movember and your Mo must go - shave it off on December 1st
