High winds cause power outages to more than 68,000 Hydro One customers
TORONTO, March 8, 2017 /CNW/ - High winds that started late this morning in southwestern Ontario continue to cause power outages on Hydro One's distribution system. Wind gusts have been reported in the 100 km/h range and are expected to continue into this evening. There are currently 270 active outages affecting more than 68,000 customers. Where safe, Hydro One crews are out assessing damage and restoring power to customers.
"Hydro One is working to restore power to customers affected by the wind storm as quickly as possible," said Greg Kiraly, Chief Operating Officer, Hydro One. "Our field offices are mobilizing crews from areas not affected by the high winds to help safely restore power to our customers. Turning the lights back on for homes and businesses is our top priority."

If the power system in your area is affected by bad weather, be sure to stay clear of any fallen power lines. If you spot a fallen line, keep at least 10 metres back, even if it does not appear to be live. Report it to the police and call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
