Highway 15: Major work at L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge over three weekends
LONGUEUIL, QC, Sept. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce important lane closures over the next three weekends at the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge (Highway 15 North and South), where one lane will be open in each direction from Friday at midnight to Sunday at noon. Please note that the first northbound lane out of three will be closed as of 9 PM and one southbound lane at 10 PM.
Remember that the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge connects Highway 15 (North and South) to the Champlain Bridge. Due to these closures, access to the Champlain Bridge from the Bonaventure Expressway will be available. Exit 58 will also go directly to the Bonaventure Expressway from the Champlain Bridge and heads north to avoid the construction zone. Also, keep in mind that there won't be any obstacles on the Champlain Bridge itself, since all the major work that was planned for this year has been completed faster than expected, over four weekends instead of seven.
Work for this weekend - September 17 to 19
Towards the South Shore, motorists are invited to take the Victoria Bridge from the Atwater exit or the Bonaventure Expressway to the Champlain Bridge. Exceptionally, the two lanes of the Victoria Bridge will be opened towards the South Shore on Saturday, September 18 from 10 AM to 8 PM, to alleviate the work on the southbound part of the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge. Towards Montreal, motorists are invited to use Exit 58 from Highway 15 North to make a detour via the Bonaventure Expressway, exit at Avenue Pierre-Dupuy (Exit 2) where motorists can retrace their steps on the Bonaventure Expressway and proceed to Highway 15 North via Exit 4, and thus avoid the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge (consult our map: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pjcci/4990600573/).
Various closures to the approaches and exits of Highway 15 are also expected during this period (see details below). This work allows for the reparation of concrete deck panels and expansion joints on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge, as well as paving on the main viaduct and on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge. Note that this work could be postponed depending on weather conditions.
