His Excellency to Host We Can do Better: Governor General's Conference on Concussions in Sport at Rideau Hall Français
OTTAWA, Nov. 28, 2016 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will host "We Can do Better: Governor General's Conference on Concussions in Sport," at Rideau Hall, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016.
"Concussions and head injuries in sport are an important public health issue," said the Governor General. "Our Office has teamed up with Sport Canada to host a one-day conference that will gather committed Canadians in the government, sport, recreation, education and health sectors to share their experiences and best practices in an effort to reduce the incidence of concussions, to keep sport safe and to encourage young people to pursue the sport or physical activity they love without hesitation. We want to contribute in a meaningful way to the work underway to develop a national approach to the awareness, prevention, detection, management, and surveillance of concussions."
Canadians from coast to coast to coast are invited to participate in the conference on www.gg.ca/concussions where they will be able to watch the proceedings live and submit questions to the panelists via Twitter by using #GGCC2016.
Details about the conference program and panelists will be announced at a later date. For a sneak peak, watch His Excellency's video message online at https://youtu.be/cPi0mxbm1M8.
