HOCHTIEF Completes Police Facilities in Canada
- 18 police facilities in Ontario Province completed on time and within budget
- Opening of last building at end of month
ESSEN, Germany, Nov. 26, 2012 /CNW/ - With the opening of the Central Regional Headquarters in Orillia at the end of the month, HOCHTIEF has successfully concluded the construction of 18 new police facilities in the Canadian province of Ontario. In September 2010 the project company "Shield Infrastructure Partnership" in which HOCHTIEF Solutions AG has a 50 percent shareholding through its subsidiaries, won the contract to design, finance, build and maintain the 18 police facilities over a 30-year-term.
The police facilities, distributed across 16 locations, were completed on time and within budget. The overall construction time was around two years. The work included seven police stations, eight forensic labs and three Regional Command Centres. In order to meet the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver standard the new buildings feature energy-efficient design and ecologically sustainable construction methods. They replace existing outdated buildings and meet the needs of modern police work. Following the completion of the construction work, the project company will maintain the facilities for 30 years.
Commenting on the conclusion of the construction work, Bernd Romanski, a member of the HOCHTIEF Solutions Executive Board said: "We are delighted to have had the privilege of playing an instrumental role in this PPP project that is so important for Ontario Province. The working relationship between all parties involved was excellent and trusting throughout, so that we were able to complete and hand over all construction work within the agreed timeframe and budget."
