'Holiday Train Tracks' CD benefits food banks across North America
CALGARY, Nov. 29 /CNW/ - Canadian Pacific is bringing spirit to the holidays, with the release of the 2010 Holiday Train CD, 'Holiday Train Tracks'.
This 13-track compilation disc features a number of recognized Canadian musicians and ambassadors of the Holiday Train including: The Odds, Shaun Verrault, Melanie Doane and special guests the Barenaked Ladies. All lend their voices to this special musical collection, which is dedicated to helping raise money, food and awareness for food banks across North America.
From rock songs and Christmas classics to new country tunes and songs inspired by the musicians' personal experiences on the Holiday Train, there is something for everyone to enjoy this season.
In addition to covering all costs associated with producing the CD, Canadian Pacific has donated more than 10,000 copies and all online sales to food banks along this year's Holiday Train route, which will be used to raise additional funds or awareness at the local level. The price of the CD is a recommended donation of $10. CDs are also available for download online through iTunes and cdbaby.com. Until December 17th, two brightly decorated freight trains are travelling across six Canadian provinces and eight states in the U.S. Midwest and Northeast helping to raise money and food for local food shelves. This is the 12th year for the 'train of lights'. Since 1999, the CP Holiday Train has helped raise $4.8 million and generated almost 2.3 million pounds of food donations. All food and cash donations raised at each event stays in that community for distribution.
