SEATTLE, March 13, 2013 /CNW/ - To celebrate its upcoming 140th anniversary on April 18, 2013, Holland America Line is offering "historic" savings on a wide selection of 2013 cruises and CruiseTours and 2014 winter/spring Exotic Voyages. The savings include a $140 per stateroom credit on select sailings and extended Collectors' Voyages, savings up to 50 percent off cruise fares, reduced deposits and free or reduced cruise fares for third and fourth guests who share the same stateroom.
"Holland America Line's historic legacy is very rich and we are celebrating that history in a variety of ways that also includes special savings," said Richard Meadows, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs for Holland America Line. "We want both our loyal fans and first-time cruisers to come on board and celebrate with us, and these offers make it the best time to book a Holland America Line cruise."

Bookings must be made by April 21, 2013, to take advantage of the offers.
Multigenerational travel continues to rise in popularity and guests looking for a family-friendly vacation can book an affordable seven-day cruise to Alaska or Canada/New England, or even a 14-day cruise to Europe, under the free or reduced third and fourth fares promotion. These idyllic regions offer exciting experiences for the whole family with a variety of shore excursions and cultural encounters.
With this promotion, a family of four could explore the beautiful shoreline of Canada and New England this summer on a seven-day cruise paying just $749 per person for the first two guests in an ocean-view stateroom, while the two children would sail free of charge in the same cabin. Families looking for a magical voyage to the land of the midnight sun in northern Europe could take a 14-day cruise this summer, with the first two guests in an ocean-view stateroom paying just $1,999 per person, and two children sailing free of charge in the same cabin making it an economical family adventure.
Holland America Line was founded in 1873 as the Netherlands-American Steamship Company, a shipping and passenger line. Because it was headquartered in Rotterdam and provided service to the Americas, it became known as Holland America Line. Within 25 years, the company owned a fleet of six cargo and passenger ships, and operated between Holland and the Dutch East Indies. The line was primarily a carrier of immigrants from Europe to the United States until well after the turn of the century, bringing 850,000 to new lives in the New World.
Though transportation and shipping were the primary sources of revenue, in 1895 the company offered its first vacation cruise. In 1973, the company sold its cargo shipping division. Today, the premium cruise leader operates 15 ships sailing to all seven continents and carries nearly 800,000 cruise passengers a year.
