offering of Homburg Canada Real Estate Investment Trust

HALIFAX, April 9 /CNW/ - Richard Homburg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Homburg Invest Inc. ("HII" or the "Company") (TSX: HII.A & HII.B and NYSE Euronext Amsterdam: HII) announced today that further to the Company's December 16, 2009 news release in which it declared its intention to spin off its real estate assets into five geographically based real estate companies, a preliminary prospectus has been filed with the securities regulatory authorities of all provinces and territories in Canada for the initial public offering of trust units of Homburg Canada Real Estate Investment Trust (the "REIT"). The filing is the initial step in executing HII's previously announced strategy of unlocking value for its shareholders.
The proposed offering is being underwritten by a syndicate of underwriters led by TD Securities Inc. and including National Bank Financial Inc., Desjardins Securities Inc., CIBC World Markets Inc., Scotia Capital Inc., Canaccord Financial Ltd., HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc., Dundee Securities Corporation and Beacon Securities Ltd. Completion of the initial public offering is subject to and conditional upon the receipt of all necessary approvals, including regulatory approvals.
A preliminary prospectus containing important information relating to these securities has been filed with securities commissions or similar authorities in all of the provinces and territories of Canada. The preliminary prospectus is still subject to completion or amendment. Copies of the preliminary prospectus may be obtained from one of the underwriters noted above and are available on SEDAR at www.sedar.com under the REIT's profile.
