Homebuilders Commend the Federal Government's Priorities in the Speech from the Throne
OTTAWA, Oct. 16, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA), commends the Government of Canada on its priorities set out in today's Speech from the Throne.
"Skilled jobs and housing affordability remain the central concerns of the residential construction industry, and the federal government's continued focus on employment opportunities and supporting Canadian families is appreciated," stated CHBA President Deep Shergill. "We are pleased with the government's strong commitment to skills training. "We look forward to collaborating to ensure these initiatives address our economy's critical skills gaps," added CHBA CEO Kevin Lee.
The CHBA also applauds the federal government's significant financial commitment to support municipal infrastructure. "Federal infrastructure investments should serve to improve housing affordability, so long as these remain focused on core infrastructure like roads, water and wastewater treatment, and public transit," noted Lee.
