MARKHAM, ON, July 4, 2017 /CNW/ - Honda Canada Inc.'s light truck lineup continues to boost sales, helping to set a second consecutive monthly record for the company. Combined June sales of 19,258 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 14% increase over last year's sales. The Honda Automobile Division set a new June record on sales of 17,423 units, up 14% over last year. The Acura Division reported June sales of 1,835 units, up 12% over last year.
"The all-new 2017 Honda Civic Type R goes on sale mid-July as the first-ever Type R-badged Honda sold in Canada. Needless to say, our customers and dealers are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the ultimate performance variant of Canada's best-selling passenger car," said Jean Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc.
"As anticipated, the revitalized 2018 TLX A-Spec has reinforced the performance direction of the Acura brand and driven consumer traffic into Acura dealerships across Canada. The brand's popular RDX and MDX luxury SUVs pushed Acura's light truck lineup to 12 percent growth overall," added Leclerc.
June Highlights:
- Honda Canada Inc. posted a new June sales record with 19,258 units sold versus June 2007 with 16,907 units sold.
- Honda brand June sales sailed past the previous best June in 2016 with 15,273 units sold.
- For the sixth consecutive month, the HR-V set a new monthly record on sales of 1,592 units.
- For the sixth consecutive month, the CR-V posted a new monthly sales record with 4,276 units sold versus the previous best June in 2015 with 3,645 units sold.
- Honda Pilot topped the previous best June record in 2016 with a 19% increase.
- Honda Ridgeline had its best June ever with 483 sales versus the previous best in 2005 with 405 sales.
- Acura's popular MDX luxury SUV posted a 26% gain on sales versus the same period last year.
