Honda Canada Continues Strong Sales Momentum with Seven Straight Months of Year-over-year Growth

Honda Fit and Accord see exponential growth

MARKHAM, ON, Oct. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Combined September sales of 13,964 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented an 8% increase over last year's sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported September sales of 12,449 units, up 9% over last year. The Acura Division reported September sales of 1,515 units, up 4% over last year.

"Strong September sales wrapped up the summer selling season and will help to continue our sales momentum through to the end of the year," said Dave Gardner, vice president of sales and marketing, Honda Canada Inc. "Civic sales of 6,262 units in September holds the model as the number one selling passenger car in Canada on a year-to-date basis.  With Fit and Accord sales doubling last year's September figures and Pilot surpassing its best ever September, Canadians continue to embrace our core Honda products.  Our loyal Acura customers continue to support our luxury sport utility vehicles, as both MDX and RDX saw double-digit gains in September."

September Highlights:

• Honda Civic was up 8% over the same period last year with 6,262 units sold and holds its position as the number one selling passenger car on a YTD basis
• Honda Accord had very strong sales of 1,333 units sold versus 653 units in the same period last year (up 104%)
• Honda Fit had great sales of 799 units sold versus 345 units in the same period last year (up 132%)
• Honda Pilot surpassed its previous best September with 745 units sold versus 687 units sold in September 2012 (up 8%)
• Acura business was led by 483 delivered units of the RDX, topping its previous best September of 437 units in 2012 (up 11%)
• The all-new Acura MDX saw a 10% increase over the same period last year with 468 units sold
