Honda Accord continues strong sales momentum, as the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada names it 'Canadian Car of the Year'
MARKHAM, ON, March 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Combined February sales of 7,823 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 12% decrease from last year. The Honda Automobile Division reported February sales of 6,873 units, down 13% from last year. The Acura Division reported February sales of 950 units, down 5% over last year.
"Despite our overall business being impacted by inclement weather in February, consumers have voted for Accord with their wallets, as it continues to post exceptional sales increases year-over-year," said Jerry Chenkin, Executive Vice President, Honda Canada Inc. "We are also pleased that AJAC has voted with their ballots, naming the Honda Accord '2013 Canadian Car of the Year', which recognizes that the Accord raised the bar in the family car segment."
February highlights:
- Honda Accord had strong sales of 976 units sold versus 299 units in the same period last year (up 226%).
- RDX had best February monthly sales with 382 units sold versus the previous best February of 238 units sold in 2008.
- Honda Accord sales up 226% over last year.
- Honda Fit up 33% over last year.
Honda Canada has sold approximately 3.7 million Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada since 1973. Of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in February, 93% were produced at the company's assembly plants in North America.
