Accord continues strong sales momentum
MARKHAM, ON, Feb. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Combined February sales of 7,220 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented 21% down from last year. The Honda Automobile Division reported January sales of 6,211 units, down 27% from last year, led by strong January sales of Honda Accord (up 147%) and Fit (up 68%). The Acura Division reported February sales of 1,009 units, up 41% over last year, led by strong sales of Acura RDX (up 136%).
"January 2012 was an exceptional sales month for us as we caught up to unfulfilled demand for Civic caused by lack of supply in the last three months of 2011," said Jerry Chenkin, Executive Vice President, Honda Canada Inc. "Canadian consumers embraced Honda and Acura core pillar products in 2012 and we look forward to continued success in 2013."
January highlights:
- Honda Accord begins the year as the best-selling vehicle in the intermediate segment.
- RDX had best January monthly sales with 370 units sold versus the previous best January in 2008 with 332 units sold.
Honda Canada has sold approximately 3.7 million Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada since 1973. Of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in January, 94% were produced at the company's assembly plants in North America.
