Honda Pilot and Acura ILX have best June ever;
Honda Canada sales up seven per cent for 2013
MARKHAM, ON, July 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Combined June sales of 14,971 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 10% increase over last year's sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported June sales of 13,416 units, up 11% over last year. The Acura Division reported June sales of 1,555 units, up 3% over last year.
"After strong spring momentum and a solid first half, we're pleased to see Honda and Acura sales in a positive year over year growth position," said Dave Gardner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc. "The appeal of Honda passenger cars continues among Canadians, as sales of Accord and Fit saw substantial increases in June and Civic, Odyssey and Pilot all performed well. From an Acura perspective, ILX had a record-breaking month with best June sales and the all-new RLX flagship luxury sedan is driving traffic to Acura dealerships across the country. As the summer months continue, we are looking forward to the positive momentum the launch of our all-new MDX luxury sport utility vehicle will deliver."
June highlights:
- Honda Accord had very strong sales of 1,656 units sold versus 633 units in the same period last year (up 162%)
- Honda Fit was up 17% over the same period last year with 682 units sold
- Honda Pilot had best June sales with 578 units sold versus 514 in June 2012
- Acura ILX had best June monthly sales of 461 units versus 147 units in 2012
Honda Canada has sold approximately 3.7 million Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada since 1973. Of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in June, 95% were produced at the company's assembly plants in North America.
