HONDA CANADA REPORTS SEPTEMBER SALES RESULTS
TORONTO, Oct 1 /CNW/ - Combined September sales of 13,662 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 10% increase over last year's sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported September sales of 12,202 units, up 8% from last year, led by record September Honda CR-V sales of 3,057 units (up 311% over September 2010), and by an increase in Honda truck sales of 41%. The Acura Division reported September sales of 1,460 units, a 30% increase over last year.
"Consumers are responding to the outstanding values that our current models represent," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc. "Our all-new Honda CR-Z sport hybrid is attracting a lot of Canadians to our dealerships. And we are getting a lot of interest from buyers regarding the new 2011 Odyssey minivan which arrives later this month, while the CR-V compact sport-utility vehicle continues with exceptionally strong sales that are on track to break the all-time annual CR-V sales record next month."
For September, 95% of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada were built in North America, including the two Honda of Canada Mfg. assembly plants in Alliston, ON. This is up from 92% for September last year.
Honda Canada Inc. has sold more than 3,375,000 Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada over the past 37 years. A record high 91 per cent of the Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in 2009 were produced at the company's assembly plants in North America, up nearly 3 per cent from 2008.
