Honda's Power Products Production Reaches 100 million Units Globally
MARKHAM, ON, Jan. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Honda Canada Inc. is pleased to announce that production of power equipment products has now surpassed 100 million units globally.
"Canadians sometimes think of Honda exclusively as an automotive company," said, Ab Ghaznavi, Manager, Power Equipment & Marine, Honda Canada. "But as this incredible milestone shows, Honda sells everything that goes in your garage, from lawnmowers to generators to outboard engines and more."
Honda's power products business dates back to 1953 when an engine for agricultural equipment was launched to reduce the manual labor of farmers. All of Honda's power equipment is based on this original spirit of utilizing technology to help people.
Since then, Honda has been using its core technology, the engine, to gradually expand its power products lineup which now includes tillers, generators, outboard engines, water pumps, lawnmowers, trimmers, and snowblowers.
"We live in a country with diverse landscapes and unpredictable weather conditions so it is our goal to provide Canadians with a wide-range of environmentally-responsible, safe and useful products to help them with all their needs," said Ghaznavi. "This includes Canadian exclusive products like Honda Generators that feature Cold Climate Technology specifically designed for continuous running in our cold Canadian winters."
Honda's power equipment products, like its vehicles, must align to the company's overall environmental commitments. New products include a compact household gas engine cogeneration unit and a solar power system which adopts CIGS thin-film solar cells.
In Japan, Honda power products are produced at Kumamoto Factory and Hosoe Plant at Hamamatsu Factory. In regions outside of Japan, Honda power products production began in 1984 with the production of lawnmowers in the U.S. Since then, Honda has been establishing and increasing the capacity of production plants in Europe and Asia as well. Today, Honda power products are produced at eleven production plants in nine countries and are used regularly by people in more than 150 countries around the world, positioning the power products business as one of the key pillars for Honda's business along with the motorcycle and automobile businesses.
There are over 300 Honda Power Equipment Dealers located across all provinces within Canada. For more information on Honda Power Equipment, please visit http://powerequipment.honda.ca/
