Honoré Mercier Bridge - Complete closure of Montreal-bound lanes on Saturday, November 2, from midnight to 5 p.m. Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, Oct. 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to announce the complete closure of the Montreal-bound lanes of the Honoré Mercier Bridge on Saturday, November 2, from midnight to 5 p.m.
This closure is necessary to carry out repairs on the federal section of the bridge's roadway. The repairs are located at the junction between the two Montreal-bound lanes, making it impossible to keep either one open while the work is carried out.
The section of the slab targeted in this repair work will eventually be completely replaced as part of the bridge's roadway rehabilitation program. In the meantime, it is important that maintenance work be carried out on a regular basis, especially as winter approaches to avoid operations taking place during that time of year. Everything is in place to carry out the entire operation in a single day (Saturday, November 2) in order to limit impacts on traffic.
The Montreal-bound lanes may be opened sooner than expected depending on how quickly the work progresses.
It is important to note that the bridge's two South Shore-bound lanes will remain open during this period.
During this major closure, road users are encouraged to use the Champlain, Victoria or Jacques Cartier Bridges, or the new section of Autoroute 30, to get to Montreal.
Please note this closure may be rescheduled according to weather conditions.
