Honoré Mercier Bridge - Important closure next weekend, December 4th and 5th
LONGUEUIL, QC, Dec. 1 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) wish to announce important work that will take place on the Honoré Mercier bridge next weekend, from Friday, December 3, midnight to Saturday, December 4, 7:30 PM, and from Saturday, December 4, midnight to Sunday, December 5, 7:30 PM. During this period, one lane will be open in each direction (one Montreal bound lane, and one South Shore bound lane).
Also note that the lane width on the bridge will be reduced to 3.3 metres during this work. Trucks that surpass this width are asked to use an alternate route. The entrance to the Honoré Mercier Bridge by Airlie Street remains closes to traffic during this period also.
Note that the traffic will be quite heavy on the Honoré Mercier Bridge during this work. Motorists of this route are asked to avoid this sector, if at all possible. The Champlain, Victoria and Jacques-Cartier Bridges are all good alternatives to consider this weekend.
This work allows for the installation of platforms on and underneath the Mercier Bridge, as well as steel repairs.
