Honoré Mercier Bridge - One lane per direction for Labour Day weekend (August 29-September 1, 2014) Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 26, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) are announcing that one lane in each direction will be closed on the Honoré Mercier bridge from 10 p.m. on Friday, August 29, until noon (12 p.m.) on Monday, September 1.
Work is scheduled for completion by noon on Monday, September 1, to better serve bridge users returning to the city after the long weekend.
The access ramp from La Prairie towards Montréal (Ramp 2) and the access ramp from Airlie Street towards the South Shore (except for buses) will also be closed during that period. The other access ramps will stay open.
On JCCBI side, this closure will allow the contractor to continue to complete intensive, round-the-clock reinforcement work on the steel structure of the Seaway section in preparation for the rehabilitation of its concrete deck next year.
On MTQ side, the replacement of structural elements will occurred under the bridge.
Drivers can use the Champlain Bridge as an alternative, since no major closures are planned there for the Labour Day weekend.
