Honoré-Mercier Bridge - Single Southbound Lane Closure this Weekend
LONGUEUIL, QC, Oct. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) wish to inform the public of a single southbound lane closure this weekend rather than the complete closure of the upstream part of the bridge that had been previously forecasted. Therefore, the two Montreal-bound lanes will be open during this period, whereas a single southbound lane will be open from Friday, October 29th at 11 PM to Monday, November 1st at 5 AM.
The initial planning, namely the complete closure of the upstream part of the bridge, is no longer necessary given the progress of the work accomplished weeknights and mornings.
Traffic will be very heavy on the Mercier Bridge towards the South Shore during construction. Motorists are invited to avoid this sector, when possible. Please also note that the width of lanes will be reduced during the work to 3.3 metres. Trucks exceeding this width will be invited to take an optional route. We would like to remind you that these closures allow for important repairs to be made on the metal structure of the Mercier Bridge.
