Honoré Mercier Bridge- Complete opening of Ramp 2 (La Prairie ramp) to
traffic on Friday, November 19
LONGUEUIL, QC, Nov. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) wish to announce the end of construction on the La Prairie ramp (Ramp 2) of the Honoré Mercier Bridge as of Friday, November 19. This ramp will be newly opened to traffic as of Friday morning, nearly two months after having announced the start of the work last September 13. Note that the second phase of the work on Ramp 2 will take place spring 2011.
Preparatory night work: Complete closure of Ramp 2
In order to begin the re-opening of Ramp 2, necessary preparatory work requires the complete closure of Ramp 2 on Thursday night, November 18 from 9 PM to Friday, November 19 at 5 AM. If necessary, note that a second closure will take place during the same time frame on Friday night, November 19, to Saturday morning, November 20, to complete any necessary work. Also note that during the closure, one lane towards the South Shore will be open on the Honoré Mercier Bridge (Châteauguay / La Prairie). The entrance from Airlie Street remains open.
During this night work, motorists are asked to use a temporary detour road that will lead to Route 207, then Route 138, to access the bridge by the access ramp from Châteauguay (Ramp 4). Conversely, motorists can use the exit ramp towards Châteauguay (Ramp 3) and take the exit for Route 207 to head towards La Prairie by the Route 138 service road. We invite you to consult our maps presenting the detour roads - towards Montreal: http://bit.ly/97f0fN / towards La Prairie: http://bit.ly/aKa5B4.
Remember that work started in mid-September has helped to replace the first section of the access ramp's deck by using prefabricated concrete deck panels that were made in the factory.
