CHÂTEAUGUAY, QC, Feb. 19, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The ministère des Transports du Québec wishes to inform road users of upcoming lanes closures on the Honoré-Mercier Bridge, for repairs to the structural elements.
As previously announced, both westbound lanes of the upstream bridge (towards the South Shore) will be closed to traffic from Saturday, February 21st, 2 AM, to Monday, February 23rd, 5 AM.
This hindrance might also be required from Friday, February 27th, 10 PM, to Monday, March 2nd, 5 AM, according to work progression.
All these interventions might change due to work progression, operational constraints or weather conditions.
No traffic will be allowed towards the South Shore. Only both eastbound lanes (towards Montreal) will remain opened to traffic.
This one way configuration will ensure road users safety in case of bad weather and will facilitate snow removal and de-icing operations that might be required during winter season. Indeed, these operations cannot be properly performed with contraflow traffic, because the width of the lanes is not adequate and safe for snow removal vehicles.
According to those circumstances, the most optimal and secure configuration for upcoming lane closures is the one mentioned above. The Ministère is aware of the impacts caused to traffic and thanks all road users and its partners for their comprehension.
Other lane closures might be necessary for such work in the coming weeks.
The ministère des Transport invites the public to plan their trips safely by visiting www.quebec511.info before departure.
