CHÂTEAUGUAY, QC, Dec. 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The ministère des Transports du Québec wishes to inform road users of upcoming lane closures on the Honoré-Mercier Bridge by the end of the year.
Signalization work will cause the complete closure of the access ramp towards route 132 west (Châteauguay-bound) and the closure of one lane towards route 132 east (La Prairie-bound) in the night from December 10th to 11th, from 10:30 PM to 5 AM.
In the night from December 11th to 12th, between 10 PM and
5 AM, one lane will be closed towards the South Shore, for preparatory work.
From Friday, December 12th, 10 PM, to Monday, December 15th, 5 AM, both westbound lanes of the upstream bridge (towards the South Shore) will be closed to traffic.
No traffic will be allowed towards the South Shore. Only both eastbound lanes (towards Montreal) will remain opened to traffic.
This one way configuration will ensure road users safety in case of bad weather and will facilitate snow removal and de-icing operations that might be required during winter season. Indeed, these operations can not be properly performed with contraflow traffic, because the width of the lanes is not adequate and safe for snow removal vehicles.
According to those circumstances, the most optimal and secure configuration for upcoming lane closures is the one mentioned above. The Ministère is aware of the impacts caused to traffic and thanks all road users and its partners for their comprehension.
These lane closures are required for rehabilitation work on the lighting system and for steel work.
These interventions might be postponed or shortened due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression.
Other lane closures might be necessary for such work in the coming weeks.
