Honoré Mercier Bridge: One lane open in each direction Saturday, October 6th to Sunday, October 7th Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, Oct. 4, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to inform road users that the Honoré Mercier Bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction (towards Montreal and towards the South Shore) from Saturday, October 6, at 8 p.m., to Sunday, October 7 at noon.
During this period, the access ramp to the South Shore bound lanes of the bridge from Airlie Street in LaSalle will also be closed. There will be a signaler at the entrance to the Airlie access ramp for bus access only, to facilitate public transportation between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
On the South Shore, the access ramp towards Châteauguay and the access ramp towards La prairie will also be closed in both directions.
Traffic may be more difficult during this work, and road users are encouraged to use the Champlain Bridge during this period.
These closures are necessary to carry out work on the bridge's jersey barriers and anchors in anticipation of the roadway replacement project that will take place next year (2013) on the federal section of the bridge.
The Honoré Mercier Bridge's upriver bridge—the bridge that makes it possible to access the South Shore (Route 138 West)—will be completely closed to traffic until Sunday, at noon. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction with a lane installed in the opposite direction on the downstream bridge (Route 138 East).
Please use the indicated detour, via route 207.
Moreover, the right lane of the Honoré Mercier Bridge's upriver bridge will be closed starting at noon on Sunday, October 7, until 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
