Honoré Mercier Bridge: only one lane per direction from Friday, August 31, 10 PM to Sunday, September 2 at 5 AM Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 29, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) would like to inform road users that traffic will be limited to a single lane per direction on the Honoré Mercier Bridge from Friday, August 31, at 10 PM to Sunday, September 2 at 5 AM.
The south-bound bridge will be isolated in order to allow preparatory work for the opening of the new Monette Bridge, on the axis of Route 138 west, on the LaSalle side. This preparatory work is likely to continue during a second weekend to allow the opening of the new Monette Bridge to traffic.
During this period, the bridge's access ramp from Airlie Street at LaSalle towards the South Shore will also be closed. An attendant will be posted at the entrance to the Airlie access ramp to facilitate access to buses and public transportation from 8 AM to 7 PM on Saturday.
The off-ramp towards Châteauguay from the Honoré Mercier Bridge (Ramp 3) will also be completely closed to traffic on Saturday, September 1, from 2 AM to 5 PM. A detour will be set up using Ramp 2, the off-ramp towards La Prairie, then Route 132 towards Châteauguay.
Note that this road work may be postponed depending on weather conditions.
