Horizon 2016 : the final program of Quebec Oil and Gas Association's 6th annual conference is presented today Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 17, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Quebec Oil and Gas Association (QOGA) is proud to announce today the final program of its 6th annual conference, that will be held at Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, in Montreal, on November 2nd and 3rd. As energy matters are now everywhere in the media, the event represents a unique opportunity of discussion between producers and consumers of oil and gas, as well as exchanges with industries in the service sector. Under the theme "Horizon 2016" the conference is the best time of the year to gauge the industry of Quebec, its perspectives and its ambitions.
As Quebec now imports for more than 15 billions of dollars of oil and gas, and when there are major questions to resolve regarding transportation of this energy, its more pressing than ever to discuss producing and extracting our own resources, here in Quebec. "Regarding hydrocarbons, Quebec as now reached a crossroad. No day goes by without the media talking about those matters, and for a reason. Things are moving fast… and we feel the change! It's now time to make important decisions for a collective future", said Michael Binnion, President of QOGA.
This year's program puts forward a message from Pierre Arcand, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister responsible for Plan Nord, as well as a speech from Luc Blanchette, delegate Minister for mines at the prestige luncheon. Françoise Bertrand, from the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec, will speak to attendees during the opening breakfast. Earl Hickok, President of the Oilman Conference will, for his part, present the opening cocktail. The President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producer, Tim McMillan, will be the guest speaker of the dinner. He is also a former Saskatchewan Energy Minister.
Pierre-Olivier Pineau, head of the Energy Management Chair at HEC Montreal will talk about the industry's economic perspectives. Michael Binnion, CEO of Questerre and President of QOGA will make a presentation about a local pilot-project to demonstrate production and the value of local gas for peak usage periods. Chris Tucker, team leader at Energy in Depth will inform us about the state of gas operations in the United States.
On top of the many businesses that have tangible production projects in Quebec (Junex, Pétrolia, Petrolympic, Questerre, Squatex) the conference welcomes professor Zhuoheng Chen, from the Canadian Geological Commission, as well as Laura Weeden and Theo Muran from Baker Hughes and Paul Mc Nally from Golder Associates.
To round it up, a panel will present the experience of twelve Quebecois who visited the industry in Alberta under the aegis of the Oil and Gas Services Association of Quebec (OGSAQ).
