How Do They Get Vitamins Inside a Softgel? - Jamieson's state-of-the-art softgel facility featured on Discovery Channel Canada
TORONTO, May 29, 2013 /CNW/ - A new episode of Discovery Channel Canada's hit series "How It's Made" gives Canadians an exclusive look at the making of Jamieson's softgel vitamins, one of the world's most popular supplement formats. The episode, which premiered on May 28, highlights the success of Jamieson Laboratories, Canada's leading supplement manufacturer. It features a behind-the-scenes look at the company's 70,000-square-foot softgel manufacturing plant, International Nutrient TechnologiesTM (INT), in Windsor, Ontario.
"We're thrilled that our loyal customers and all Canadians can see the manufacturing standards and quality control that go into each Jamieson softgel," says Vic Neufeld, Jamieson CEO and President. "We have a long history with softgel technology since the inventor, R. P. Scherer, was a company employee."
The television show explores the detailed processes that allow the two-year-old INT plant to satisfy the complex design and production requirements of softgel manufacturing. Among the highlights is an inside look at INT's six encapsulation machines, seam melters and the related drying and sorting areas, designed so that Jamieson supplements not only meet pharmaceutical standards but exceed natural health product regulations. The meticulous production flow at INT has been carefully engineered to support good manufacturing practices (GMP), a production and testing protocol that ensures premium natural health products.
"Our world-leading INT facility has been certified by regulatory agencies in 40 countries to produce, package and ship products," Neufeld adds. "All Jamieson manufacturing, including our softgel production, is subject to our proprietary 360 Pure quality-assurance protocol that guarantees traceability, full potency and clinical purity." Easy-to-swallow softgels are a consumer favourite, and the natural softgel membrane is an excellent air and moisture barrier that better protects each supplement's active ingredients.
"How It's Made" airs several times a week on Discovery Channel Canada. For more information about future broadcasts of the Jamieson softgel episode, please visit http://www.discovery.ca/Schedule.aspx
