Find out during the 10th annual Caring for Kids Radiothon on Thursday, May 30th!
MONTREAL, May 29, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - It was the beginning of soccer season and a day like any other. Eight-year-old Savana Montagna went to pick up her jersey and practice a bit. At some point, she was kicked in the leg but these things happen and no one thought much of it. However, when the pain got worse instead of better, Savana's mom took her to the Montreal Children's Hospital. There, they received the devastating news: Savana had Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. At just eight years old, instead of spending the summer playing soccer with her friends, the little girl began the fight of her life.
Savana and dozens of children like her will share their stories of battling life-threatening illnesses on May 30, 2013, during the 10th edition of the Caring for Kids Radiothon on Astral Radio's CJAD 800, CHOM 97 7 and Virgin Radio 96.
From 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., over 35 children and their families join their favourite hosts live from the Hospital cafeteria with heartfelt, first-hand accounts of the daily battles waged at The Children's and to encourage Montrealers to show their support by joining the Circle of Hugs with a monthly donation of $20 or more.
It is a day like no other, filled with courage and hope, as these young patients inspire thousands of Montrealers to call the Dormez-Vous? phone bank at 514-939-KIDS (5437) and pledge to make a lasting change in the lives of sick children and their families.
One of the most important annual fundraising events for the Montreal Children's Hospital, the Caring for Kids Radiothon has raised $16 million and counting to help meet the Hospital's most urgent needs and fund life-saving medical equipment, innovative projects and cutting-edge research.
