May 4: McHappy Day inspires Canadians to make a difference in the lives of local families and children in need
TORONTO, April 27, 2016 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, May 4th, guests visiting McDonald's® restaurants across Canada will have the chance to make a difference in the lives of local families and children. McHappy Day is McDonald's largest fundraising event of the year where $1 from every Big Mac® sandwich, Happy Meal® and hot McCafé® beverage sold is donated to a local Ronald McDonald House® and other local children's charities. This year guests using the self-order kiosks will also have the option of adding a $1 donation when placing their orders, ensuring more families and children in their local community will benefit.
We're encouraging our guests to join local dignitaries, athletes, media personalities and celebrities for what will be a fun and spirited fundraising effort to bring support and smiles to local families and children in need.
Funds raised on McHappy Day support Ronald McDonald Houses and other local children's charities. The 14 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada provide a home for out-of-town families whose children are being treated at a nearby hospital, and together with the 13 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, they support over 20,000 families a year.

About Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) Canada
In 1982, Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada was founded to be the everlasting organization of support for Ronald McDonald Houses and their programs in Canada. The 14 Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home for out-of-town families whose children are being treated at a nearby hospital. Completing our circle of support for Canadian families are 13 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, which provide a caring place for families to rest and recharge right inside the hospital, as well as 2 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles, mobile health units that help to bring medical care to vulnerable communities in Alberta. As RMHC's largest donor, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited and its franchisees donate 10 cents from every Happy Meal® sold to Ronald McDonald House Charities, and McDonald's guests generously support Ronald McDonald House families by donating at the coin box in their local McDonald's restaurant. For more information on RMHC Canada, visit www.rmhc.ca.
