TORONTO, Jan. 10, 2017 /CNW/ - In support of Bell Let's Talk Day 2017, Canadian comedian, actor, and mental health advocate Howie Mandel sits down with THE SOCIAL and YOUR MORNING's Melissa Grelo for HOWIE MANDEL: A BELL LET'S TALK DAY SPECIAL, airing in simulcast Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV Two, and streamed on CTV.ca and the CTV GO App. The special will also stream on CraveTV and be available on demand following its network premiere – on CTV.ca and the CTV GO app.
Filmed at Bell Media's Toronto headquarters, HOWIE MANDEL: A BELL LET'S TALK DAY SPECIAL features Mandel speaking candidly about his lifelong experiences with mental illness and the impact it has had on his family, including his son Alex, who joins the conversation to discuss his own experiences.
"Living my entire life with mental health issues makes me believe that this conversation is absolutely necessary and one that needs to be had," said Howie Mandel. "This is the human condition that many people live with, often in silence. I'm thankful for the work that Bell Let's Talk is doing to keep this conversation going for Canadians. I'm hopeful that this special will make people feel as though they are not alone in what they feel."
"Howie Mandel has been a strong, insightful contributor to the Bell Let's Talk initiative, and the conversation around mental health, and we're grateful that we are able to share his experience with Canadians," said Mary Ann Turcke, President, Bell Media.
In HOWIE MANDEL: A BELL LET'S TALK DAY SPECIAL (Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. ET/PT), Mandel discusses living with mental illness from a young age, using humour to cope, and how comedy made him feel accepted. He reflects on how his mental illness affected his relationships and the impact it has had on his family. Mandel's son Alex also joins the conversation, recalling his experiences growing up with a parent with mental illness. Alex also discusses his own mental illness and how he was able to come to terms with it and address it with his father. Both Howie and Alex address questions from the studio audience.
