TORONTO, March 13, 2017 /CNW/ - H&R Block Canada and Airbnb have announced a new partnership to help Airbnb hosts file their taxes in Canada.
"The sharing economy has helped Canadians from coast-to-coast monetize their assets with the click of a button," says Lisa Gittens, spokesperson for H&R Block, Canada. "This initiative allows Airbnb hosts to tap into the tax expertise at H&R Block to better understand what is taxable and tax-deductible in the sharing economy."
The partnership supports more than 55,000 Canadians opting to share their homes through Airbnb. H&R Block will also provide discounted tax services for hosts who file their taxes before May 15, 2017.
"Airbnb hosts are everyday Canadians who want to pay their fair share and contribute to their communities," says Alex Dagg, Public Policy Manager for Airbnb. "This partnership supports our hosts by helping them access the tools and information they need to understand their rights, responsibilities and tax obligations for home sharing."
