HUAWEI announces HUAWEI P10 and P10 Plus Coming to Canada
Launch of HUAWEI'S flagship device with Tier 1 operators a first for North America
BARCELONA, Feb. 27, 2017 /CNW/ - Following the global launch of the HUAWEI P10 and P10 Plus, HUAWEI Canada today announced the new HUAWEI P10 smartphone line will be coming to Canada when it is commercially available later this spring. Rogers, Fido, Bell and Videotron will sell the P10 in stores across Canada, while Rogers will be the exclusive distributor of the P10 Plus. The announcement marks the first time Tier 1 North American operators will make available HUAWEI's flagship device through retail outlets, and the first time Canadians will have access to one of the most popular smartphone models in the world.
"We are pleased to be the lead partner with HUAWEI in Canada as we launch the P10 series," said Dirk Woessner, President, Consumer Business Unit, Rogers Communications. "We want to offer our customers the best selection of premium smartphones and we're excited to bring them the P10 and P10 Plus. Customers around the world have embraced the P series and we think our customers are going to love its features too."
"We are proud to be bringing our flagship P series line to Canada with Rogers and Bell," said HUAWEI Canada President Sean Yang. "Building on the global success of the HUAWEI P9 line, the HUAWEI P10 and P10 Plus will provide Canadian consumers with a compelling new alternative when selecting their next device."
"Bell and HUAWEI are longtime partners in broadband network and smartphone innovation, and we are pleased to extend our relationship with the coming introduction of the P10 smartphone," said Blaik Kirby, President of Bell Mobility.
The HUAWEI P series has built a reputation for performance and battery innovation, while developing an unrivalled partnership with legendary camera company Leica, to lead the smartphone industry in camera design. Building on a commitment to deliver an exceptional photography experience, the HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 Plus will again set industry benchmarks with the introduction of the Leica Dual-Camera 2.0 and Leica Dual-Camera 2.0 Pro Edition. With the first ever front-facing camera co-engineered with Leica, both the P10 and P10 Plus will provide users with an easy way to create timeless portraits.
The HUAWEI P Series takes smartphone efficiency and customization a step further thanks to the powerful Kirin 960 processor and all-new EMUI 5.1 user interface. Kirin 960 is Huawei's latest high-performance SoC chipset. This new GPU boasts a 180% improvement in performance and a 40% increase in power efficiency over previous designs.
A large 3,200 mAh battery on the P10 and 3,750 mAh battery on the P10 Plus supports HUAWEI's SuperCharge technology (5V/4.5A). SuperCharge technology includes Huawei's Super Safe 5-gate protection mechanism, offering real-time voltage, current and temperature monitoring to make charging not only fast but safe.
"By working with industry leaders such as Leica, and by investing in innovative technology and features, we've grown to be the world's 3rd largest smartphone company," said Sean Yang. "Consumers around the world have come to expect smartphones that are functional, stylish and innovative, and we look forward to working with ROGERS, Fido, Bell, Videotron and others in bringing the HUAWEI user experience to Canada."
