MONTREAL, Nov. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, at the Pollutec 2010 in Lyon, France, Mario Monette, President and CEO of Technoparc Montréal, proudly announced that Technoparc Montréal has concluded a partnership with acclaimed scientist and ecologist, Hubert Reeves. Mr. Reeves will lend his name to a unique site in Canada on Technoparc Montréal's Saint-Laurent Campus, dedicated to innovative clean technology companies.
The site will be called the ÉCO-CAMPUS HUBERT REEVES and will bring together the international scientific community in the heart of a natural, bio-diverse habitat, offering one of the most innovative eco-construction work environments in the world.
Mr. Hubert Reeves, who was present when the announcement was made at the Pollutec 2010, said he was honoured to lend his name to such a project. The ÉCO-CAMPUS HUBERT REEVES will be developed with a high respect for the natural environment, (50% of the natural habitat will be preserved) and will aim to also:
• Lower the carbon footprint by using local resources when available and by reusing residual materials
• Reduce the use of resources by choosing materials and technologies capable of superior energy performance
• Favor the emergence of eco-industrial networks focused on sharing resources related to innovation and research
The ÉCO-CAMPUS HUBERT REEVES will officially be launched in Montréal in 2011.
