QUEENS PARK, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - Tim Hudak's hypocrisy will be in full swing this morning as he hopes Ontarians forget his record of health care cuts.
FACT: LHINs reduced government bureaucracy by $98-million each year:
- | Eliminated: | $30-million Ministry of Health Regional offices |
- | Eliminated: | $18-million District Health Councils |
- | Saved: | $25-million by aligning CCAC's to LHIN boundaries |
- | Saved: | $25-million through more efficient wait times monitoring |
In fact, the total spent on salaries and administration by all LHIN's in 2009-10 was $67-million - more efficient than the system they replaced.
FACT: Tim Hudak served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health under the Harris government - and worked to close 28 hospitals, get rid of 7,110 beds, and fire 6,200 nurses.
FACT: Mark Spiro, Tim Hudak's campaign manager was paid by the big chain drug stores to organize a campaign against the Ontario government because of our plan to lower prescription drug costs for Ontario families and seniors. Not surprisingly, Tim Hudak and the Conservative Caucus opposed lower drug prices.
FACT: Tim Hudak and the Conservatives have promised to cut nearly $3-billion annually out of frontline health care in Ontario, if they form government. That would be about $12-billion slashed after a single 4 year term.
In the next election, Ontario families will have a choice between the McGuinty Liberals, who have invested in health care, built new hospitals and increased the number of Ontario families with access to a family doctor and Harris-Hudak Conservatives, who oppose giving communities a local voice in health care decisions and champion cuts to frontline care.
