The Government of Canada supports the Hudson Village Theatre
HUDSON, QC, June 29, 2020 /CNW/ - The performing arts bring people together, make us think and connect artists with their audiences. The arts stimulate our emotions and enrich our collective life experiences. That is why the Government of Canada is pleased to help bolster the artistic and cultural experiences of Canadians across the country.
Peter Schiefke, Member of Parliament (Vaudreuil–Soulanges), today announced an investment of $983,046 in the Village Theatre West's renovations and expansion of the Hudson Village Theatre. He made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage.
This support from the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund will help improve facilities and modernize the creative space to meet the needs of artists. The project will also optimize the conditions for hosting public events.

Quick Facts
Each year, the Hudson Village Theatre hosts more than 20,000 spectators in an intimate 148-seat venue in central Hudson, which previously served as a Canadian Pacific Railway station. For the last 28 years, the theatre has served communities across Montréal and Western Quebec.
The Hudson Village Theatre offers year-round professional live English theatre, as well as plays, comedies, musical performances, films and operas. The theatre provides a professional venue for community groups to stage their productions and to host local fundraisers and conferences.
The Government of Canada established the $500-million Emergency Fund, an additional temporary relief measure to help alleviate the financial pressures faced by organizations in the culture, heritage and sport sectors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This fund will help affected organizations retain jobs and maintain operations.
The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage, culture and creative innovation. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment and feasibility studies related to cultural spaces.
