VANCOUVER, Feb. 28 /CNW/ - Greeted by applause and cheers at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Closing Ceremony, the 2010 Canadian Olympic Team waived to the crowd in BC Place Stadium dressed in uniforms inspired by sport and our nation's colours, while infused with Canadian style.
Designed by Hudson's Bay Company, the 2010 Canadian Olympic Team uniforms featured:
- A hand-knit wool sweater, bearing the logos of the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), Hudson's Bay Company and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games; decorated with the Canada word mark on the back and maple leaves and elk on the front - Red T-shirt with Canada word mark and COC patch - Red, white and black trapper hat with Canada word mark embroidered across the front - Black corduroy pants - Black boots
"Hudson's Bay Company has a rich history of supporting athletes as far back as the 1936, 1960, 1964 and 1968 Olympic Winter Games when Canadian mission team members and athletes sported the HBC striped blanket coat. We're proud to continue that support for the 2010 Canadian Olympic Team," said Jeff Sherman, CEO of Hudson's Bay Company.

"We wanted to create a look for the 2010 Olympic Team that captures a contemporary Canadian look and feel while utilizing elements, like the parka and buffalo plaid, that have also been embraced as Canadian icons all over the world," said Suzanne Timmins, fashion director for Hudson's Bay Company. "We consulted Canadian athletes during the process and our designers' approach authentically reflects the attitude of Canadian athletes: training diligently and competing hard while having fun."
Key facts about the 2010 Canadian Olympic Team Uniform: - Canadian colours. The colours of the collection are represented by a traditional palette of red and vintage white, strengthened by black and combined with an athletic heather grey. - Great Canadian graphics. Influential work of many great Canadian graphic designers from the modernist era in the 60's and 70's inspired the Hudson's Bay Company design team to revisit and re-ignite a classic clean design aesthetic to the collection. - Hudson's Bay Company branding. Combining the crest and the stripes, the Hudson's Bay Company logo is steeped in tradition and reflects rich heritage of the company that stood side by side with Canadians throughout their shared history. - Canada word mark. Clean and symmetrical, the Canada word mark features the letter 'A' pointing upward to represent the mountain ranges and slopes of British Columbia, Host Province of the 2010 Winter Games.
