Hudson's Bay Company Foundation Donates $50,000 to the Red Cross in Support of Nepal Region Earthquake Fund
TORONTO, April 30, 2015 /CNW/ - Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) announced today a donation of $50,000 from the HBC Foundation to the Canadian Red Cross to support relief efforts in the aftermath of the devastating Nepal area earthquake. The donation kicks off a matching campaign in Canada, launched together by the HBC Foundation and the Canadian Red Cross, to encourage urgently needed donations from the Canadian public. The HBC Foundation will match donations made by the public, up to $50,000. Hudson's Bay and Home Outfitters customers may also lend their support by donating their HBC Rewards Points online through www.hbcrewards.com by clicking on the "Donate to Charity/Community" link. HBC will convert all collected points to cash and donate to the Canadian Red Cross Nepal Region Earthquake Fund.
In the US, Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH is making it easy for customers and associates to support the American Red Cross with direct donations, by clicking on the Red Cross logo on the homepages of www.lordandtaylor.com, www.saksfifthavenue.com and www.saksoff5th.com.
Red Cross volunteers and staff began providing assistance immediately following the earthquake and are working around the clock to assist in search and rescue operations and administer first-aid to the injured. This donation will help the Red Cross provide critical support to people and families in desperate need of assistance.
