Humber River Hospital Acknowledges $1 Million Contribution from Small Professional Firm
TORONTO, Dec. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Humber River Hospital, and the Humber River Hospital Foundation, is extremely pleased to announce that they have received a $1 Million donation from msi Spergel Inc./Mandelbaum Spergel Gluckman Group/Spergel Forster Silverberg & Gluckman, LLP ('SPERGEL') in support of the Foundation's Capital Campaign. The funds will help Humber River build and equip its new facility, currently under construction at Keele Street and Highway 401 in Toronto. The gift was presented to Hospital and Foundation representatives by Mr. Alan Spergel, Managing Partner of SPERGEL.
Humber River Hospital and the community served by the hospital have benefited from the support of SPERGEL, who has been a contributor towards the Foundation's various efforts for more than a decade. This latest donation will be directed towards Humber's $225 million capital campaign. The new Humber River Hospital will further enhance the high quality, safe, efficient care provided in the hospital's current facilities by maximizing the benefits of technology, lean design and environmental planning.
The hospital's cutting-edge approach to design and technology will result in more time at the bedside for care providers, nurturing the personal interactions that form the basis of great hospital care. Enhanced communications between patient and care team will empower patients to participate in their care like no other hospital in North America. This strategy has attracted interest from around the globe as other organizations look to learn from Humber's expertise in acute care hospital planning.
When open in the Fall of 2015, the new hospital will have 656 beds, 80% single patient rooms and increased Emergency and Critical Care capacity. Robotic technology will assist in many areas of the hospital, including delicate surgical procedures. The centerpiece of the hospital's plans to revolutionize health care for the community, it will be North America's first fully digital hospital.
