MONTREAL, Sept. 4, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - One in seven children live in poverty in Quebec – in Montreal, that figure rises to one in three. While poverty is often concentrated in big cities, no part of the province is spared. Allowing children to grow up in poverty seriously compromises their future. It's simply not acceptable, and we can change things. That's why the LÉGER FOUNDATION is launching the annual Feed a Child campaign, this year from September 4 to 13. Metro grocery stores are teaming up with Feed a Child and accepting donations in-store. 100% of the donations received will be distributed to groups that help children. Feed a Child is an initiative of the LÉGER FOUNDATION, which covers all administration costs for the campaign.
Enjoy the taste of life
Feed a Child means helping children to have fun playing, learning…. living. And your donation to the Feed a Child campaign supports community groups all over Quebec that offer much more than food. In addition to meals and snacks, the groups we choose offer a range of activities and services that help disadvantaged children develop to their full emotional, intellectual and social potential.
Providing the necessary resources
Since the Feed a Child campaign began, the LÉGER FOUNDATION has given nearly $3.25 million to more than 400 organizations. In 13 years, we've provided services to more than 350,000 children in Quebec. Last year, $318,000 was distributed to 37 groups, helping 26,000 children. Unfortunately, the need just seems to keep on growing. Thanks to you, we hope to help more children enjoy the taste of life again this year. Please help us to surpass our objectives!
An end to hunger
Our objective for 2014 is $500,000. Please help! All Metro grocery stores accept donations in-store. You can also donate by mail (please make your cheque out to Feed a Child and send it to 130 Avenue de l'Épée Montreal, Quebec H2V 3T2; by phone (1 877 288-7383); and through our secure website leger.org/enfant
