- TCI truck sales stay strong, up 2.7%
- TCI overall sales down 1.3% compared to February 2017
TORONTO, March 1, 2018 /CNW/ - With 1,183 hybrid vehicles sold across Canada during the month of February, up 20.1% compared to 2017, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) is seeing consumer demand for electrified vehicles continue to grow.
TCI's strong hybrid sales were led by the Toyota Camry Hybrid (with sales up 143.1% versus February 2017), the Toyota Prius (up 101.7%), the luxury Lexus NX Hybrid (up 85.7%), and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid (up 20%).
TCI experienced a slight decrease in overall sales during the month of February with 13,236 units sold, down 1.3% compared to 2017. The Toyota division reported sales of 12,090 units, up 0.9% compared to February 2017, and the Lexus luxury division recorded 1,146 vehicles sold, down 19.3% compared to last February.
Demand for trucks continues into 2018
TCI also continued to see truck sales climb in 2018 with 8,442 units sold, up 2.7% compared to 2017. This was led by a record February for both Toyota Tacoma (1,022 units, up 33.2%) and Lexus NX sales (410 units, up 2.5%). Sales of the Toyota Tundra were also up last month (743 units, up 65.5%).
