TORONTO, July 10, 2013 /CNW/ - Hydro One made significant gains overnight in its efforts to restore power. People worked through the night to reroute power and to undertake necessary repair work. As a result, there are now approximately 10,000 customers without power.
Over the last thirty six hours, the Company reconfigured its GTA electricity system to restore power to as many people as possible. This involved taking two critical transformer stations offline. While the majority of customers have been restored, the system has not been fully stabilized. In the coming days, Hydro One will continue repair these stations to bring the system back to normal operations.
Currently, there is limited need to continue with intermittent power outages; however, until the system is fully stable, the potential still exists for further intermittent outages.
Hydro One appreciates customer efforts to reduce consumption during this period as a means of taking pressure off the grid.
