Public invited to visit heritage-designated facility on the Ottawa River
OTTAWA, June 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Energy Ottawa, a Hydro Ottawa subsidiary, is giving the public the unique opportunity to step inside Canada's oldest operating hydroelectric generating station as part of Doors Open Ottawa this weekend, June 7-8.
Hydro Ottawa is welcoming visitors to its Chaudière Falls Generating Station No. 2 for guided tours of the 123-year-old facility to discover how hydroelectricity was, and still is, produced. It will also be offering bucket rides in hydro trucks, as well as a barbecue lunch, to support its United Way Ottawa workplace campaign.

- Commissioned in 1891 and refurbished and fully automated in 2001, the No. 2 Generating Station it is Canada's oldest surviving hydroelectric station still in operation.
